DIY Photo Personalized Artwork Holder

 This project turned out so cute! I absolutely love it! I used mostly primary colors since those are the colors we have in our playroom/craft room. This artwork holder can be made any style to fit your theme/colors.

As you know, I am a stay home mom of 3 boys. It takes a lot of work to keep them entertained during the day without them watching to much television or using phones/tablets. Especially my 3 year old who is extremely full of energy. We do many craft projects and activities through out the day. I wanted to create a project to display their art in their playroom. I came up with this super easy and inexpensive idea using a frame from the dollar store. Im not going to lie, Ive had this frame for over a year! Its been sitting in my craft closet all this time. Im glad I finally found something to do with it. Hope you like it!

Materials:

* Frame
* Paint
* Paintbrush
*Glue gun
* Clothespins
* Decorative Wooden Pieces
* Gluestick (not pictured)
* Photos (not pictured)

1. Take frame apart and paint frame in any color you'd like. I used orange so it can stand out on the wall. I also used gloss paint for a shiny finish.

2. Print photos using any office program on your computer. The frame I used had 3  5 X 7 openings for pictures. I decided to print photos in black and white since I was using a lot of color in other areas.For the names, I typed them using an office program and glued them to the mat using a glue stick.

3. I glued pictures down on paper and put the frame together.

4. I purchased 3 decorative wooden pieces at a craft store. Using a glue gun, glue clothespin to each wooden piece. Let dry.

5. Once it dries, adhere each piece to the front of the frame. I glued outside pieces at the very end so their artwork wouldn't overlap.

Here is the final picture of artwork holder with their work! I havent decided yet where I will be placing in their playroom. I hope you have enjoyed this super easy tutorial!

Easy, Inexpensive and Cute DIY Distressed Wooden Boxes

Hello! Im back!
I've been dying to share this super, cute and inexpensive project! My husband created shelves in my kitchen. We had originally thought of making it a computer desk, but didn't like the idea at the end. I decided to add shelves in that area. We are still not completely finished with the shelves, but hopefully within the next 3 weeks.
I went to several stores looking for cute, distressed baskets but was surprised at how expensive they were. The least expensive wooden baskets were 26.99 for the style that I wanted and still seemed to small. I needed 8 boxes that were at least 12 inches tall. That was way too much for me at the moment for baskets.

I went to Home Depot and walked around for about 20 minutes. I then came across a section where they had Cedar Shims. I had never heard of Cedar Shims, but were the perfect material and size to create the boxes.

 These boxes are turned out so cute and can be created in so many different ways.

Here is the tutorial on how to create them.

      Materials:

  • Cardboard Box
  • Cedar Shims
  • Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Clear Tape ( not pictured)
  • Paint (not pictured)
  • Paintbrush ( not pictured)
  1.  Assemble the box and tape. I  hot glued the flaps on the inside of box. I used a box that was 12 in X 12 in X 10.50 in.
2. If you see on the picture above, cedar shims have one end that is thicker ,approximately 1/4 inch and gets thinner to 1/8 inch on the other end.

3. Place the cedar shim on top of box and measure.

 4. After placing cedar shim on box, use a pencil to mark the end of box. This is where you will be cutting the cedar shim.

 5. Using a pair of scissors, cut the cedar shim straight where the mark is at.

 6. After cutting cedar shim, add glue using hot glue gun and adhere to box. Make sure to hold wood down for a few seconds until glue dries.

 7. I only added cedar shims to the front and back of boxes since you cant really see the sides of them in my shelves. I will be creating more for my bedroom where all 4 sides will be covered in wood.

 8. Using a foam brush, paint cedar shims. I used a white wash then used a dry brush technique to distress them with brown.

 Isn't that super easy and cute! I absolutely love how they turned out! I ended up making cute chalkboard signs and adding them to the front.

I hope you have enjoyed this post! If you decide to try them, I would love to see your creations! You can email pictures and I can share your projects! See you soon!

Baby Gender Reveal Party

Have you heard about baby gender reveal parties?
There are mixed opinions about having a gender reveal party; in my opinion I think its great!
We had our gender reveal ultrasound on Friday, July 30th but really did not find out until the next day at our party. This was the most amazing and exciting party ever! I truly mean it!
I sent out this invitation I did about 3 weeks ago.
It was a "Team Boy" - "Team Girl" theme party, pink and blue of course. Guest had to wear blue if they thought it was a boy, or pink if they thought it was a girl.
I also did a few fun games.
First, who ever brought diapers they received a ticket for a raffle of a $25 giftcard to Olive Garden. We had so many diapers at the end of the day!
Second, we hid a pink bow and a blue pacifier somewhere in the kitchen. The point of the game was for us not to tell anyone and see if anyone could spot the items while being in the kitchen. Well, it didnt work. No one ever spotted the items. So before the reveal, I just let everyone know and played. It was so much fun!
We ended not playing the third game because everyone was so anxious to find out the sex of our baby.

Here is the invitation I did.

Team Girl!

There were way more people in Team Boy!

I used pink and blue decorations for the party. I mainly bought streamers and balloons! Inexpensive and cute! I started buying party stuff about a month ago. Anything that was blue or pink and would work for the party I would buy.

Never forget the veggies! This was the first plate of food gone!
All the food had cute tags that were made with scrapbook paper and a stamp. So easy and they turned out so cute.

A good friend of mine made these cute pink and blue rice krispies pops. They were a hit!

In one corner of my kitchen I had all the drinks. I had sodas, water bottles, pink lemonade and blue hawaiian punch.

I bought these adorable unbreakable drink jugs at Sams Club. They were a hit! I did have trouble finding a blue drink.

I used the same paper as the food tags to make these watter bottle labels. They were so easy to make and looked so cute!

Here is my sister cutting the sub right before guest arrived. By the way, out of all the 40 guest we had (including kids) my sister was the only one who knew what I was having. She did the cupcakes! She was dying for everyone else to know! She did a great job keeping the secret!

Some of my friends who came to the party.
4 out of my 7 best friends are pregnant including myself. Isnt that crazy?

The 3 pregnant ladies!

Here I am with my mom (pink dress) and our good friend Delia.

My husband and I before the reveal. So excited!!

Here I am before the reveal doing the raffle and playing the games. Everyone was so anxious.

Here are the cupcakes and toppers my sister made. They turned out so cute and delicious!
So we had all guest wait until I counted to three to take a bite out of the cupcake and see if we found a blue m&m, or a pink.
I found a blue m&m inside.
IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!
This was so much fun!!! Everyone was excited and had so much fun!
We cant wait to meet our baby, Isaac.

These are all the diapers and gifts we received.
Everything turned out great and we had so much fun.
Hope you enjoyed our party!
